This program is led by violinists Igor and Vesna Gruppman who not only bring a wealth of experience for string players as teachers and mentors, but they are true visionaries that bring back to our program the tradition and influence of the great violinists of the past like Jascha Heifetz, David Oistrach and Leonid Kogan, all three towering figures mentors to both Igor and Vesna Gruppman.
Dates for the program: June 25th to July 3rd, 2024.
Participants will be able to join the academy for a seven-day session in which they will develop their instrumental skills while taking part in the exciting chamber music program in collaboration with their piano colleagues.
The String Program’s focus is chamber music for strings and piano. Note that repertoire for chamber music can include Sonatas for violin and piano, cello, and piano, and trios for piano and violin. During the String Program, individual lessons will be combined with chamber music coaching.
Most of the faculty members are regular performers at the Miami International Piano Festival. They have been selected for the faculty at the Academy because they are not only exceptional artists but because they have the motivation and skills to share their knowledge and experience with younger musicians.
String players participating in the Summer Piano program will take part in the following activities:
All students get to participate in multiple private lessons with the faculty.
Lectures and presentation by the faculty.
Daily group & thematic masterclasses where to publicly perform for the maestros and your colleagues. See all topics of the masterclasses.
Each participant of the String Program will take on a chamber music project that will be coached by the string and piano faculty during their stay at the MIPFA
Dobbiaco/Toblach is located in the Italian Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site, the most magical, mystical, enchanting and inspirational place. Participants will enjoy nature guided tours around its area and the marvelous lake of the city. In free time, participants can take advantage of the activities available in the region, like hiking, biking, swimming, and other activities.
Following our surveys, one of the most unforgettable experiences that our participants have during the academy encounters are the faculty recitals. The MIPFA believes that these activities deeply help to inspire our students, as you will be able to see all faculty members to pu into practice their teachings on the stage.

Concerts where all participants can showcase what they have learned during the session, which are all professionally video & audio recorded.
All participants of the String Program take part in the Chamber Music Program for Piano and Strings.
Through these chamber music experiences, participants will explore the intricate interplay of ensemble performing under the guidance of our internationally acclaimed faculty.
This interaction will be illuminating and inspirational for participants who will have exposure to a variety of important sources of information that would stimulate their growth as musicians. Artists and participants will coexist and share unforgettable life experiences. This will enhance musical perception, develop awareness of the musical process and the interaction of external events. It will also address the lack of musical, historic and artistic culture in general.
String Program participants will join forces with their counterparts in the Piano Program to explore the wonders of the Sonata and Trio repertoire for violin, cello & piano. The journey will begin with the assignment of a designated Sonata and Trio one month before the academy, allowing for in-depth preparation and interpretation.
All ensembles will work closely with faculty members in personalized coaching sessions.
All participants will enjoy scheduled practice time during their stay at the academy.
A special concert featuring the faculty and participants will be offered as the culmination of the program.
Topics of the masterclasses to be announced soon.
