Carlo Palese

    Carlo Palese obtained his Diploma in piano at the Conservatoire “L.Boccherini” in Lucca, summa cum laude. He then studied under the guidance of Maria Tipo and, for some years, of Pietro Rigacci; he attended also masterclasses with Jean Fassina, Murray Perahia, Piero Rattalino, Aquiles delle Vigne.

    Subsequently, he was the student of Aquiles delle Vigne, obtaining the Diplome Superieur d’Execution at the Ecole Normale de Musique “A. Cortot” in Paris.

    He has been prizewinner in important National and International Piano Competitions (Viotti-Valsesia, Rome, Milano, Caltanissetta, Treviso, Torrefranca prize, Taranto, Udine, Marsala among others). In 1992 he was invited in U.S.A. for a tour of concerts and in the same year won the second prize at Cincinnati World Piano Competition.

    He performs both as a soloist and chamber musician, cooperating with important instrumentalists. His musical interests move from classic repertoire to the music of our time; in this field he often performs new works dedicated to him. He has made recordings with R.A.I. (Italian Radio) and CDs for Camerata Tokyo and EMA Vinci.

    The intent of spreading musical culture has led Carlo Palese to be active also in the field of music promotion: he is President of “Livornoclassica”and artistic Director of the Livorno Piano Competition. He is artistic consultant of “classica con Gusto” concert serie at Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, which is now at its tenth edition. He is President of the Association “Livornoclassica”, artistic Director of the “PerPIANO” Festival and the Livorno Piano Competition.

    Currently, he is Professor of piano at the Conservatoire “Luigi Boccherini” in Lucca and gives masterclasses in Italy and abroad, being frequently invited as Guest Professor in important universities. He often serves as jury member in piano competitions.
